About this policy

This policy describes how the current version of Map Scale Lab handles information when you calculate map scales, convert distances, estimate distances and bearings from coordinates, and manage calculations and projects.

Data access and collection

Map Scale Lab works offline and does not require an account. The inspected application does not send your calculations or saved data to the developer and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or remote crash-reporting services.

The app processes information you enter, including measurements, units, scale ratios, geographic coordinates, project names and descriptions, notes, custom preset names, and report titles. Completed calculations are automatically saved in local history with their inputs, results, calculation details, and timestamps. Project records, custom presets, and preferences such as display precision, default units, and coordinate format are also stored locally.

Coordinates are entered manually. The app does not request device location access or obtain your position from GPS. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, or microphone.

Purposes of processing

The app uses your inputs to perform calculations and display results. Local storage allows you to reopen calculations, organize projects, save notes and presets, search history, and retain preferences. Selected records are used to generate reports when you choose that feature.

Storage and device backups

On Android, saved app data is stored in the app's private preferences on your device. The app enables Android backup, so app data may be included in system backups or device transfers, depending on your device settings and backup provider. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

If you use the browser preview, saved calculations and preferences are stored in that browser's local storage. Native sharing and PDF export are not available in the preview; report text can be selected and copied.

Sharing and third-party services

The app does not automatically share your calculation data with the developer or third parties. It contains no identified advertising or analytics SDKs. Its inspected dependencies provide application interface and runtime functionality.

When you choose to share a text summary, Android opens its share chooser. The app or recipient you select receives the summary. Reports may contain measurements, coordinates, results, timestamps, notes, and the report title, depending on the records selected.

On Android 10 and later, choosing to save and share a PDF creates a report in your device's Downloads collection and opens the share chooser. The selected receiving app is given permission to read that PDF. Exported files exist separately from the app's saved calculations. Receiving apps and services handle information under their own privacy policies.

The Android app declares Internet permission, but the inspected calculation, storage, and report features do not implement network transmission. Sharing through another app or using system backup may involve that service's network connection.

Security

The app uses Android's private app storage for saved calculations and preferences. Its local data encoding is not encryption, and the inspected app does not add a separate encryption layer to stored records or exported PDFs. Local operation errors are written to Android's device logs, or to the browser console in the preview; no remote error-reporting service is implemented.

The app does not transmit data to a developer-operated service, so it does not implement an app-specific encrypted connection for that purpose. Security during sharing and backup depends on the services involved. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.

Retention and deletion

Saved calculations, projects, custom presets, and preferences remain locally until you delete them or clear the app's storage. The app does not implement an automatic expiration period.

You can delete individual history records, clear history, remove records from projects, delete projects, and delete custom presets. History and project records are separate copies: clearing history leaves project records, and deleting a project leaves history unchanged.

The Settings option labeled "Delete local calculations" removes all projects, calculation history, and custom presets. It retains calculation preferences. To remove all local app data, including preferences, use Android's app-storage controls. In the browser preview, clear the site's browser storage.

Deleting app records does not delete PDFs saved in Downloads, copies you shared, or system backups. Delete exported files separately and use the relevant recipient's or backup provider's controls for other copies.

For questions or deletion requests, contact mateuszbednarski696@gmail.com. The developer does not receive your locally stored calculations through the app and cannot remotely erase data on your device or copies held by another service.

Children's privacy

The supplied information does not establish an intended age audience. The current app does not include accounts or a mechanism for collecting children's personal information remotely. Local inputs and user-directed sharing are handled as described in this policy regardless of the user's age.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the app or its data practices. Review the current policy when using an updated version of Map Scale Lab.
